JAV industry
« on: March 14, 2019, 02:32:50 PM »
So, lets talk about the Japanese Adult Video industry.

FIRST TOPIC to discuss.
Why is it more... experimental than the U.S. porn industry?

Aika, the girl i posted in the Hot Asian Girls thread, she has shota niche in porn.

But, in the U.S., it's still only college stepson.

I am by no means a cultural historian, anthropologist, or sociologist. However, I do believe that the main difference between the two historically is the different ways in which sex was taboo between the cultures. The United States in particular has a very Puritan tradition, and since it's heavily Protestant and Anglo-centric, there is also the contribution of medieval patristic writings to consider.

Don't let me lose you here. I promise there's a correlation. To put it simply, the taboo around sex that formed in the United States manifests in large part to its history and culture. I am not as familiar with Japanese history, so I refrain from commenting too much. From what I can see, which is again likely skewed by the type of arts education I've had, Japanese art has kind of always integrated sexuality in a way that may seem a bit bizarre to us, with even "tentacle porn", as we would recognize it today, appearing in woodblock prints.

As for how this relates to the adult film industry, that much becomes much more clear. The adult film industry relies on the culture in which it's seated to pick up what is taboo and broadcast it back to the audience. Put even more simply, the JAV is probably more experimental than here in the States because these niches already exist there. Meanwhile the States are so suppressed that I find most available pornography made for an American audience is...lackluster at best, because it seems that the mere act of sex is so taboo and edgy that it doesn't have anything to expand into yet. That is, if the American industry went more wild, it would lose more than it would gain. The audience might find it too taboo and then discomfort would outweigh the enjoyment of the media. That's my guess, anyway.

I don't think sex was a taboo in ever. Nudity, maybe. in old days they had a legal prostitution system. I think they.still have. I dont think they made a big deal about sexual stuff.

Today Japanese people are so busy they don't even have time.for sex or relationships. Maybe that's why they havery a big adult entertainment industry.

I think they are more open minded about sex than any other nation. Probably because they are not weighted by religious opinions. Japan banned prostitution only in 1956. So law says No person may either do prostitution or become the customer of it. But that's nation fine with Prostitution since it operated differently than many other countries. Mainly because as a nation they are quite disciplined.

You can have a paid date, bath, escort etc so who going to make sure that stays there ? Plus Japanese sex industry (not prostitution ) makes 25 billion usd revenue each year. Adult video industry is just small part of it.
