Is ecchi seinin, or whatever?
« on: June 10, 2017, 10:35:28 PM »
I was reading jagaaaaaaan. I can't spell it right now.  They already established sex scenes. But it wasn't "graphic". It was your typical sex scene, no visual penetration. Later on you see a character jack off. Then in the latest chapter, you see a girl give a blowjob. The penis was censored, white out dick without outlines. You see the girl slurping it up. My question is, is that normal? I don't read Seinen manga so I don't know if that is normal. For me, it took me out of the story. I thought you don't show sex sex or is a blowjob different?

Jagaaaaan is about fractured humans who become monsters. mC is one too but has decided to kill other fractured humans.

Ummm most of the seinen I've seen never relied on sex, and if it showed it, rarely was it ever that much or that big a deal, with the sole exception of Mnemosyne, which is self-classified as softporn, so you've either found a badly written one (if it takes you out of the story), or something that's trying to be a hentai. When I think seinen, I think like Ghost in the Shell...

But, generally speaking, seinen is manga/anime targeted to males a little older than shounen all the way through adulthood.

The story isn't the best. Except the "fanbase" is loving it because it's real and raw. Whatever the hell that means. I'm pretty sure they are teens who just like gore and are cynical to be cynical.

...Yeah I dunno man. I'd say if it's plot-driven, it's seinen. If it's sex-driven, then not so much. It seems like one of those that walks a weird line. Then again anything that walks a weird line tends to get a weird fanbase of believers. It seems to be off to a good start in that direction.

I guess I'm just a prude. I woudnt add that kind of scene in my manga. Even if it does occur, I won't actually show it like that.

I would only add it if it served to enhance the story in some way. It's not so much that I would think of myself as prudish, but like swearing, I like to use things in moderation so that when they make an impact, they make the impact that I want them to. "Control-freak" is probably more fitting.
