Draw Your Waifu(s) in a Bikini!

Alternatively, I suppose, draw your husbando(s) in tight swimwear...but I digress.

The primary focus here will be on anatomy and realistic posing. Since swimwear is so revealing, there's no place to hide where you might be having some trouble with proportions. After I finish catching up on my anime, I will post an example to the best of my artistic ability.

Rules...or rough guidelines, if you will...
>Must be a full body shot. At least one hand should be visible, although the other can be obscured. This is an anatomy practice, after all, so I would recommend showing what you can.
>Swimwear should cover what would be censored on daylight prime-time television...although realistically speaking sometimes the nips to show through.

That said, have fun and make your obligatory ecchi beach episode dreams come true.

All right. As a good preliminary first step, it's probably a good idea to start drawing from actual bikini models so you can break down some of the poses and curves and the functions of parts of the body. Granted, a lot of the pictures you find are not full body, so they leave some of those intricacies to the imagination. I just sketched out three of them penciling boxes and spheres and other basic 3D shapes I saw in the figures, and for the sake of uploading here, I quickly outlined portions with a regular ballpoint pen.



The next step would probably be to study different swimsuits and styles of them until you find something that piques your interest...but keep drawing all the styles so you can get a grasp on swimsuit fabric, which flows differently from many other fabric types.

Pretty soon I'll have other studies up on this thread, but in the meantime, I do encourage you all to share your sketches. This is a workshop after all, and when I host workshops, I like them to be open for all stages of the creative process. Don't be scared to share.

oh boy this is so harddddd. I have been trying whole day and still haven't come up with something half decent. Body Anatomy killing me !

I'm not sure what you mean, Forlorn, other than that I draw arms with a little muscle...
Anyway, I have drawn out three different designs of bikinis so far. This is a little difficult, especially trying to get things to look soft.

All right, guys. For the record, I actually sketched this up a while back. Things have been so hectic lately with assignments and stuff that I forgot about uploading it for a while. Anyway, tada! I have done the thing!



I have no idea where all of my erasers went, but I literally did not have any, so that's why some of the linework is so rough and thick in places. All my pencils are out of the erasers they were born with, and the caps decided to up and go missing, so this all pretty much WYSIWYG.

When I have time, I'll probably re-draw it and then ink it, or I may just continually draw different waifus in perfect beach tanning and swimming attire.

Quite an interesting design there on the bikini, Forlorn. I'm just wondering if there's some sort of underbust to keep it all together?

Other than that, hips and legs are hard. I feel the pain that was probably had while working on that pose. Hhhh...
